Richard Hamilton (1922-2011) was an English painter and collage artist known for producing some of the earliest works of Pop art. In his collage, anticipating one of the most significant formal theme of Pop art, he uses every kind of photographic images from the figurative culture of advertising as a core for his creations. The more representative images of known commercial products (televisions, pin-up girls, vacuum cleaners) are ironically assembled in an interior in an attempt to suggest a critical and revealing vision of culture and contemporary society.
